Do I need to book?
Yes. All hires must be pre-booked and pre-paid. Your booking is only confirmed once payment is received via our online system.
Where do we start?
Our launch point is in the garden of the Rushcutters Arms, Thorpe St Andrew.
Is there parking nearby?
If you are dining at The Rushcutters Arms before or after your boat hire, you are welcome to use the pub car park. For all other boat hire customers who are not dining at the Rushcutters, please use the free 2-hour parking lay-by located directly opposite the River Green, or free on-street parking on Yarmouth Road.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes. The minimum age to operate an Electric Boat is 21, and 18 for a Swedish Linder Canoe. Children are welcome on board but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Do I need experience?
No. Our Electric Boats and Swedish Linder Canoes are stable and easy to handle. We provide a full safety briefing and demonstration before you set off.
How far can I go?
You can go downstream to Coldham Hall (about 2 hours each way) or upstream into Norwich, past Cow Tower and Bishop Bridge, to New Mills Yard (just over 1 hour each way). We provide a detailed map when you arrive.
How fast do the electric boats go?
They cruise at around 5–6 mph — silent, smooth, and ideal for wildlife spotting.
Can we stop along the way?
Yes, there are riverside pubs and picnic areas along the route. Please use only designated moorings and avoid private or shallow spots.
What if the weather's bad?
For high winds (20mph+) we will offer rebooking or a full refund. You can also reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice. We don't offer refunds for rain alone, but we always try to be as flexible as possible.
What about buoyancy aids?
We provide buoyancy aids for all adults and children. Wearing these is mandatory for everyone on board.
Are dogs welcome?
Absolutely! Dogs are welcome on all our craft at no extra charge. Please bring a blanket for them to lie on to protect our seats.
